Joey’s Foundation is in consultation with Dr. Diane Damiano, PhD, PT. Dr. Damiano is the Chief of the Functional and Applied Biomechanics Section within the Rehabilitative Medicine Department of the National Institutes of Health.
Dr. Damiano is particularly interested in the investigation of both existing and novel rehabilitation approaches in children with cerebral palsy. She has committed to sharing the results of her research with Joey’s Foundation.
The most recent research project completed by Dr. Damiano involves the role of physical activity in enhancing motor coordination and promoting muscle and neural recovery in pediatrics with brain injury. We fully expect to be in consultation with Dr. Damiano in the months and years ahead.
The research in pediatric brain injury is moving rapidly, and we anticipate sponsoring a clearing house of articles, books or other information that might be useful to Joey’s Foundation, NIH or other entities.
